I’m Melissa, a Southern California photographer specializing in portrait, ballet, and fine art photography. I focus on capturing movement, expression, and those quiet moments that tell a story beyond the frame.
As both an educator and photographer, I’m fascinated by how people communicate — through gestures, expressions, and subtle emotion. Photography allows me to preserve these moments, whether it’s a dancer in mid-leap, a portrait session, or everyday details that often go unnoticed.
My work has been featured in SheClicks and Light & Composition, and I’ve exhibited locally in galleries highlighting fine art and dance photography. Each project is a collaboration with the subject, aiming to create images that feel authentic, intentional, and memorable.

Hey there! I'm Melissa.
My love for photography started when I was traveling through Peru as an exchange student. I wanted to capture everything so I could always remember how I felt, what I saw, and most of all, the people around me. When my kids were born, time seemed to speed up in a way I never imagined. I wanted to stop time - or pause it so that I could savor each stage of my kids' lives. As I did in Peru, I turned to a camera. I started taking pictures of the every day - of feelings rather than posed pictures.
